BLACK PORTRAITURE[S]: LOS ANGELES
THE BLACK BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Black Portraiture[s]: Los Angeles: The Black Built Environment examines the historic and imagined dimensions of Black-built environments across the African diaspora. Bringing together artists and scholars working across photography, architecture, urban planning, and visual culture, the convening explores how Black communities have designed, reconstructed, and remembered space through art, ritual, migration, and political struggle.

Dr. Ashley Adams and Ariana Faye Allensworth will present: “From Allensworth to Nicodemus: On Black Towns, Return, and Reparative Visiting.”

Co-Hosted by New York University, Getty, and UCLA.

2026-2028 CORE GRANT RECIPIENT
RUTH FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS
The Anti-Eviction Mapping Project receives a $150,000, three-year grant from Ruth Foundation for the Arts as part of their Core Grants program. This program provides unresticted support to a range of organizations across the country, and is open to organizations nominated through the foundation’s “Artist Choice” award, which AEMP received in 2024.

A COLLECTIVE READING WITH THE ANTI-EVICTION MAPPING PROJECT
COMPANY GALLERY
This collective reading hosted by the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project invites poets, writers, organizers, and guests to reflect on the current conditions and contradictions of queer space-making and cultural production. Together, we will consider how geographies of belonging and displacement shape not just where we gather, but how we hold space in ways that resist co-optation, artwashing, and performative solidarity.

Organized by Ariana Faye Allensworth and Sarah O’Neal on the occasion of Gush Gallery: Cum to Our Opening at Company Gallery.

An exhibition about Denniston Hill, the artist residency founded by artists Julie Mehretu and Paul Pfeiffer and architectural historian Lawrence Chua.

Featuring alumni and collaborators of Denniston Hill’s residency program including American Artist, Deborah Anzinger, Ei Arakawa-Nash, Nancy Brooks Brody, Carolina Caycedo, william córdova, Annalee Davis, Nikita Gale, julie ezelle patton, Marcela Torres, Las Nietas de Nonó, and Lorna Williams.
